I was born in Denver, but since my dad was in the Army, I lived in several places, including Germany. We traveled throughout Germany, as well France, Switzerland, and Italy. It was an amazing time, and I will never forget it. I’m a DPS alum and graduate of Montbello High School. I am married and have two wonderful children. I spent nine years in Westminster working as an ELA Instructional Assistant as the ELA Department Assistant. I love playing soccer and volleyball and helped coach the McAuliffe girls’ soccer team. I am also currently working on my BA in Elementary Education.

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, I attended Trinity University in San Antonio where I obtained my B.S. in Mathematics as well as a Master of Arts in Education. After completing my degrees, I moved to Colorado to enjoy the great outdoors and furthered my education by obtaining my Principal’s Licensure. I taught 7th grade math for eight years prior to taking time off to raise my two sons. As the Dean of Operations at McAuliffe, I coordinate our after-school enrichments and clubs, outdoor camps, student trips, Community Projects, Spark Change campaign and service learning. These extra activities outside the regular classroom are the ones that many students will remember from their middle school years, and I’m excited to enrich the school experience at McAuliffe!

My interest in education has its roots in my early childhood as the fourth of five children. Learning to interact and socialize was a necessity in our large family and even the larger community. I have an Associate of Arts degree and a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Eastern Washington University. My major area of study was Reading, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. In 1999, I completed Masters in Literacy from Lesley College in Boston. I have always valued education, and I feel that learning to understand and use social skills and cues in group interactions are the foundation from which we learn appropriate conduct, common courtesy, discipline and some measure of self-control. These foundational elements set the tone for future success in education as well as life, and I enjoy sharing these elements with the students at McAuliffe. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my two young girls and my adult son.

I'm originally from New Mexico and was brought to Denver to learn how to be a service dog at Freedom Service Dogs. The trainers and I both agreed I'd be better as a therapy dog and soon graduated from training school along with Heather Jung. We've been working together at schools in the far northeast of Denver since 2016. I love meeting new people but please remember, if you see me at school please ask before petting me! When I'm not working I try to get to the dog park or go on a hike as much as possible but also love those days of sitting at home watching squirrels.

I am so excited to be a part of the McAuliffe community as a Physical Education and Health Teacher.  For as long as I can remember, physical activity, playing sports and fitness activities have always been a part of my life and teaching PE and Health happened organically.  It did not take me long to realize how movement and nutrition are integral to my success in anything that I want to do, this is what I hope to share with the students and the community.  I grew up in the Finger Lakes region in New York State where we still spend time in the summer.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Cortland and a Masters from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For the past 18 years I have called Denver my home. This is where I met my husband, and we have 2 children who attend McAuliffe. As my children have grown, I went back to teaching PE and Health after owning my own personal training and nutrition business for 12 years and teaching at the post- secondary level. In

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, I attended the University of Kansas in the early 1990s. After college, I moved to Colorado to pursue a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Colorado. I started my career in education teaching English as a second language to immigrant students at Ranum High School in Westminster, Colorado. I was a middle school and high school administrator in Westminster for four years until I moved to Denver Public Schools in July of 2011. My wife Shelby and I have two daughters, Kelsey and Delaney. We have lived in Northeast Denver since 2003 and are very excited about the opportunities presented by opening a new middle school in the community where we live. We love to travel and spend time outdoors.

I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina where I learned to love skiing, camping, running and all things outdoors. Attending college at Washington and Lee University in Virginia, I studied English and Philosophy. After college, I was able to follow my dream of teaching High School English and coaching in Baltimore, MD before pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Policy at the University of Michigan. This degree led to work in educational consulting for several Chicago Public Schools before I began having my own 3 kids and decided to stay home to raise them. Education is still my passion, and I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing McAuliffe community as both a parent and a staff member. I am driven by my belief that every child deserves the opportunity to be in a nurturing environment that inspires a love of learning, and I love how McAuliffe accomplishes that!

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This quote by Gandhi is one that I try to live up to each day. After growing up on a dairy farm in far northern Minnesota and completing my bachelor’s degree at the College of St. Scholastica, I moved to Denver to join the Colorado Vincentian Volunteers, a year-long volunteer program in which I taught with Project PAVE (promoting alternatives to violence through education). Since then I have worked in Denver Public Schools both as a middle school teacher and, after completing the Ritchie Program and earning my master’s degree in School Administration and Education Policy from the University of Denver, most recently as the secondary social studies coordinator. Several years ago I had the privilege of volunteering in Kenya for a year, where I taught and helped build a school. My daughter and I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening, reading and hosting gatherings with friends. It is a blessing to be a part of the McAuliffe community!

I am a CO native! I was born and raised in Denver and stayed close for college. I attended Colorado State University for undergrad and University of Colorado for my Master’s degree in secondary English education. I was a middle school language arts teacher for thirteen years and am now excited to be a service learning coordinator and SHINE program coordinator at McAuliffe! I live in Park Hill with my husband, Ben, my three children, and my wheaten terrier, Siri. My son will be a 7th grader at McAuliffe in the fall of 2018 and my stepdaughter will be a 6th grader. My passion is traveling; I have been all over the world including countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and South and Central America. I am aware that being an educator is both a privilege and a great responsibility and am confident that my time spent with our students will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.

I was born and raised in Kansas City and fell in love with Colorado during family ski trips growing up. Knowing I had to be in Colorado, I came out here for college and attended the University of Denver. I then went to the University of Colorado Denver for my Masters degree in Counseling.  For the past four years I have been a school counselor in DPS. My passion is helping kids, and I have wanted to be a counselor since I was in high school! When I’m not working, you can find me outdoors and enjoying the beautiful nature Colorado has to offer, including hiking, skiing, and camping (all of which are made better if my beloved dog Emma is there). I also love to read, paint, cook, and spend time with friends and family.

I'm a rare Colorado Native. I grew up in Colorado Springs and then spent 8 fun-filled years in Durango before heading back up to the Front Range to get my graduate degree and become a school counselor. Working in middle schools has been the best choice I've ever made as every day brings a new and exciting challenge. I'm fluent in Spanish and love an excuse to practice with students and families. I love spending time reading, cooking and spending time with those I love.

I was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago, IL, by my mother and alongside two brothers and one sister. I attended North Park University and received my bachelor's in History along with a 6-12 teaching license. I received my Masters in Educational Leadership from DePaul University. My road to traditional education has been winding and extremely influential in my belief that all children, no matter their circumstances, need access to quality education. I have been fortunate enough to work with youth from all over the world. Although my work has exposed me to some horrific situations, these experiences have ignited a deep passion that the circumstances of a child’s life does not predestine them for failure. I am a firm believer in the power of relationship to transform a struggling student into a successful one. I also believe that the most effective learning begins when there is a relationship with home. My wife and I are both educators in Denver, and we are proud to know that our two sons will be educated in DPS. We head

When I'm not working I'm taking Calder on hikes or to the dog park, I can be found biking around Denver, attending farmers markets and going to movies.

I have been part of this incredible community since 2013. I was born in Loveland but have lived in S. California, New York and Michigan. I came to serve at McAuliffe after a variety of great experiences with Americorps, City and Non-Profit Outdoor Recreation Programs and as an Expeditionary Learning Teacher. I passionate about kids and communities. Whether facilitating and creating learning experiences that challenge and empower students to dig deeper, teaching them to ask questions and become positive leaders in their communities or simply standing with them when they need an advocate or encouragement. I have a degree in education from the University of Colorado and am currently gaining a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Ritchie Program at the University of Denver. My wife Kate is also a teacher and we have lived in the City Park neighborhood for ten years. We have two young daughters and spend as much time as possible backpacking, skiing, hiking and camping. I love teaching, leading, living and learning in the community that I live in. Together we continue to do great

From 2005-2012, I taught special education at Rampart High School and was recognized as Teacher of the Year by my school district in 2010-2011. My special education team was awarded Team of the Year in 2011-2012. I graduated in 2012 from Western State College of Colorado with my Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Special Education Law. I was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. I have always had an interest in assisting children through their educational journey. Since I began working in high school I have held a job working with children in some capacity. I began working in daycares and found my true passion during college when I worked at Special Links a private school for children with special needs and became the Transitional Director. Although I was already on the path to working with children I was able to cultivate my interest and received a degree from Metro State University in transitional services for the special needs population. After graduation I became the director at an after school program and later transitioned to a Community Liaison with Aurora Public Schools. For the past two years I have been a middle school Restorative Justice Coordinator and Educational Counselor. Most of my free time is dedicated to my son and creating new experiences for him. I also volunteer at my son's school, our church and Whiz Kids

Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, I come to Denver via Chicago which I proudly claim as my other hometown. It was in Chicago where I attended high school, studied nursing at UIC, and practiced nursing as an acute care nurse, both in intensive care and labor and delivery. Previous to health care, I explored teaching English as a Second Language and earned a BA in Comparative Literature and languages at the University of Illinois. My nursing career includes time teaching nursing skills at Community College of Aurora and extra help assignments at the Barbara Davis Center. I met my husband Matt, in those earlier undergraduate years in Urbana, Illinois. We have 3 wonderful children: one here at MIS and twins at Swigert. We love to travel, especially to Latin America, hike, camp and ski. An active Scouting parent, I enjoy leading a Cub Scout Den and shuttling my kids to and from all kinds of adventures in beautiful Colorado.

I was born and raised in Colorado. I love to visit other states for vacation, but cannot see myself living anywhere else. I started working in an office my senior year of high school, while taking clerical/secretarial classes. After high school, I was given a great opportunity to become a Corporate Travel Coordinator. I jumped at that opportunity and then transitioned to being a Corporate Travel Agent. I enjoyed working in the travel industry through 2003, when a job change let me enjoy the summer with my daughter. I was reminded that time was going by too fast so I focused on working within the school system to be able to spend more time with my family. My husband and I enjoy spending time camping and riding our ATV’s in the mountains, enjoying the great Colorado scenery and wildlife.

I grew up on the East Coast and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, but Colorado has been my home since 1992. I moved here to attend graduate school at the University of Colorado at Boulder and never left. Since graduating with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, I have taught sixth through eleventh grade in a wide variety of settings, with most of my experience in middle school language arts. In addition, I worked at McREL (Mid-Continent Research for Education and Learning), an educational research organization, where I developed curriculum for clients such as NASA and McDonalds. Teaching gives me the kind of mental challenges I love: determining powerful content, finding effective instructional techniques, and adjusting the delivery of curriculum to meet the needs of my students. When these factors fall into place, all students learn and grow, and nothing is more fulfilling than witnessing that. In our free time, my husband Tom and I spend as much time as possible enjoying the beautiful Colorado outdoors with our children.

I could not be more thrilled to join the McAuliffe International School team!

Hello! I am thrilled to be a part of the McAuliffe community. Born and raised a Hoosier, I am now a proud Coloradan. I moved to Denver to attend graduate school at University of Denver and I never left. I’ve taught middle school through college, earning a couple of Master’s degrees along the way, one for Teaching (Curriculum & Instruction) and one in Counseling. When I started counseling students in 2002, I realized my dream of helping students thrive in school and beyond. Personally, my husband, daughter, two crazy dogs, and I live just down the road in Montclair. I love a rainy day when I have an excuse to read all afternoon. Given a sunny Saturday, you’ll find me on the soccer fields around Colorado, cheering on my high schooler.
