McAuliffe will be offering a number of virtual clubs this fall and winter. All clubs will be after remote learning hours and there is no cost to participate in any of the clubs. Some clubs have a limited number of spaces available. Once you have signed up for a club, the club advisor will send you the Zoom link.

6th Grade Science Super Stars – Begins December 7th
6th graders that are missing hands-on science labs this year, come join us every other Monday from 3:15-3:50pm to do some fun science labs with one of the 6th-grade science teachers. Each month will have a theme for your labs, and we will send a list of supplies for each month before our first meeting. 8th Grade Math Club – Begins October 21st
Need help on your 8th grade math work? Want to work on this week’s Independent Practice? Need someone to explain a quiz problem to you? Working on a stretch or think page and want feedback? Need a refresher on a previous lesson? Absent from school one day this week? Come to 8th grade Math Club for assistance on any and all math! The club meets every Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 – 4:00pm. Students will receive Zoom links from their math teacher. No need to sign-up, just show up for help! Climbing Club – Begins November 1st
Do you dream of climbing 5.8, 5.15, or somewhere in between? No idea what 5.15 is but want to learn more about climbing? If you answered yes or no to any of those questions, then climbing club is perfect for you! Join Mr. Schiffer on Mondays from 3:15 – 4:00 pm. Comics and Illustration Club – FULL
Are you interested in art, comics, mythical creatures or illustration? All of the above? Great! Come join Ms. Shiffrin for Comics and Illustration Club! We’ll dive into some different techniques artists use for visual storytelling, look at some eye-popping examples from Comics Artists and Illustrators, create together over zoom and share our masterpieces through a Virtual Art Show. If you are a Spanish Speaker enrolled in ELD classes or Spanish 2B, and want to learn more about your heritage culture and have fun speaking Spanish, this club is for you! Fantasy Sport Plus
In this club we will create and compete in our own fantasy football/basketball leagues. During club meetings, we will draft and set our lineups, discuss, debate, trade and acquire free agents. Festivus Club – Begins November 6th
Every day is a holiday! Obscure ones like National Frankenstein Day (October 30th), Chicken Soup for the Soul Day (November 12th), and National Chocolate Covered Anything Day (December 16th) were decreed in order to commemorate the unsung joys of our society. Students will engage in fun activities tailored to celebrate these bizarre and culturally inspired holidays with fellow festively inclined peers! The club will meet once a week, club day will be decided on a weekly basis depending on the holiday chosen to celebrate by the club. G.E.E.K (Girls Encouraging and Empowering Kindly) Club – Begins November 4th
G.E.E.K (Girls Encouraging and Empowering Kindly) club is an afterschool program that helps instill positive attributes into girls within the MIS community. Each week the girls will meet to discuss topics such as self-esteem, friendships, mental health, etc… The group will also participate in team building, reading clubs and other activities that will help them become leaders amongst their peers. G.E.E.K club will also play a part in community service for the MIS community. Are you creative? Are you witty? Do you enjoy making people laugh? What about playing trivia? At the JackBox Party Pack club, you will get to choose from five different interactive, virtual games that we will play both with and against each other. JackBox games include everything from designing hilarious t-shirts to writing and then voting on the quips that make your side ache the most… You will need a cell phone and computer to play. If you enjoy giving and receiving random acts of kindness, then this club is for you! We will meet every other Thursday and plan ways to spread kindness to people in our school and our community. LAB (Library Advisory Board) – Begins on November 4th
The Library Advisory Board is a group of students who love books, reading, characters, and stories. They help review books for the library and promote a culture of reading at McAuliffe. The club does book talks, chat about the latest book news, and plan fun events. To be on LAB, you must fill out the LAB application. LAB will meet every other Wednesday from 4:00-4:45pm. Have you ever wondered what goes into some of our amazing productions here at McAuliffe (or…ANY theatre production for that matter)? Stagecraft Club *Online* is an exciting step into behind the scenes of the theater, as well as into creativity, partnerships, & responsibility. Together on Zoom, we will explore the world of theater from “backstage”, by investigating, designing, and creating both 2D and 3D (mini) sets for a variety of plays.
