“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This quote by Gandhi is one that I try to live up to each day. After growing up on a dairy farm in far northern Minnesota and completing my bachelor’s degree at the College of St. Scholastica, I moved to Denver to join the Colorado Vincentian Volunteers, a year-long volunteer program in which I taught with Project PAVE (promoting alternatives to violence through education). Since then I have worked in Denver Public Schools both as a middle school teacher and, after completing the Ritchie Program and earning my master’s degree in School Administration and Education Policy from the University of Denver, most recently as the secondary social studies coordinator. Several years ago I had the privilege of volunteering in Kenya for a year, where I taught and helped build a school. My daughter and I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening, reading and hosting gatherings with friends. It is a blessing to be a part of the McAuliffe community!
