Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, I come to Denver via Chicago which I proudly claim as my other hometown. It was in Chicago where I attended high school, studied nursing at UIC, and practiced nursing as an acute care nurse, both in intensive care and labor and delivery. Previous to health care, I explored teaching English as a Second Language and earned a BA in Comparative Literature and languages at the University of Illinois. My nursing career includes time teaching nursing skills at Community College of Aurora and extra help assignments at the Barbara Davis Center. I met my husband Matt, in those earlier undergraduate years in Urbana, Illinois. We have 3 wonderful children: one here at MIS and twins at Swigert. We love to travel, especially to Latin America, hike, camp and ski. An active Scouting parent, I enjoy leading a Cub Scout Den and shuttling my kids to and from all kinds of adventures in beautiful Colorado.
