McAuliffe International School is an International Baccalaureate middle school (currently in the consideration phase of the MYP application process) that serves 6th through 8th graders in the Greater Stapleton / Park Hill area of Denver. The school will open in the 2012-13 school year with 6th grade only, and will add one additional grade each year.
The school will provide a very structured and intentional learning environment where all students are able to excel in academics, personal conduct and service to community. McAuliffe plans to offer a rigorous and holistic education via elective coursework in world languages, technology, physical education and the visual and performing arts in addition to the core content areas of math, language arts, social studies and science.
In addition to academics, MIS will provide students the opportunity to participate in a full array of extracurricular activities and athletics where teams will compete with other middle schools in the Denver Prep League.
The Board of Education for Denver Public Schools has granted McAuliffe International School innovation status. We will offer a longer school day (8 hours) and a longer school year (195 days) than a traditional public middle school (7 hours a day and 171 days a year).
